The Sacrament of Confirmation strengthens the faithful with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and deepens their bond with the Church. This page provides resources to assist parishes and pastorates in preparing candidates, coordinating regional celebrations, and ensuring that the liturgy is celebrated with reverence and care. Whether you are scheduling a Confirmation, guiding candidates through formation, or preparing liturgical details, you will find practical tools and guidelines here. For additional assistance, please contact diocesan staff – we are here to support you in this important ministry.
Bishop Hying’s intent is to move this coming year towards a schedule where he celebrates one Confirmation in each pastorate each year.
By Fall 2024, pastorates should plan to be united in their Confirmation preparation seasons and thus united in their Confirmation celebrations.
For this coming year, we are anticipating the following (if a group is prepared and ready for a Confirmation to be scheduled), based on the trends of the recent years.
Unless your Pastorate has a note in the list above, please work exclusively within your Pastorate to create your request.
All requests must rank 4 unique date options.
Only ONE request should be submitted for each requested Celebration.
Please ensure the person submitting the request will be staying in their role between the time of the request and the latest requested Confirmation date.
The password needed for the request is unique to that request alone and used exclusively for the need to make edits in the future. It does not need to be the same password as the login for the person making the request.
No preference is given to requests that come in earlier than others.
Bishop Hying will be travelling without an MC this year for Confirmation Celebrations. Host parishes and pastors should refer to the Emcee Notes for Pastors document below for information on how to prepare in advance of Bishop's arrival.
Confirmation Liturgy Planners should be e-mailed directly to Emily Blau or directly sent to the Bishop's office.
Bishop Hying will be offering an opportunity for Adult Catholics to be confirmed on May 18, 2025 at Holy Name Heights at 702 S. High Point Rd. at 12:30 pm. The Mass will be followed by a light reception with the Bishop. Family and friends are welcome to attend. In order to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation as an adult, an individual must present themself to their pastor. The pastor will ensure that every individual seeking the sacrament has been suitably instructed and properly dispsosed for the sacrament.
